Mechanical Performance Engineer (m/f/d)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural dynamics analysis of launch vehicle systems and components throughout the development lifecycle

  • Identify and model vibration and dynamic load sources, including launch, propulsion, separation, transportation, and ground handling environments

  • Perform modal, frequency response, random vibration, and shock analyses to verify compliance with design requirements

  • Develop and execute coupled loads analyses (CLA) for launch vehicle systems and customer payloads

  • Define dynamic load cases and support structural and subsystem design activities

  • Plan and evaluate material, component-level, and system-level dynamic testing campaigns

  • Support qualification testing, correlate analytical models with test data, and update models accordingly

  • Collaborate with structures, propulsion, avionics, payload integration, and systems engineering teams to optimize vehicle performance

Basic Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Experience in structural dynamics, vibration analysis, and dynamic load assessment of complex engineering systems
  • Proficiency in finite element modelling (FEM) and dynamic simulation methods
  • Experience with modal analysis, frequency response analysis, and load prediction for mechanical structures
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Desired Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in structural dynamics, vibration engineering, or mechanical analysis in aerospace, launch vehicles, satellites, aviation, turbomachinery, automotive, or similar industries
  • Experience analysing complex systems with structural, fluid, or mechanical coupling effects
  • Strong understanding of the complete structural dynamics process, from modelling and analysis to testing and qualification
  • Hands-on experience with vibration, modal, shock, or acoustic testing
  • Experience correlating analytical models with test data
  • Knowledge of composite structures and their dynamic behaviour
  • Familiarity with launch vehicle, spacecraft, or payload dynamic environments
  • Experience with coupled loads analyses (CLA) and tools such as Teamcenter, Siemens NX or HyperMesh/OptiStruct
